Most renovations do not go wrong because someone cannot tile. They go wrong because nobody is clearly in charge, the price moves, and the person you originally spoke to disappears somewhere around week three.
The site manager who walks your house on the first visit is the same person who hands it back at the end. Not a salesperson, then a stranger. You have their mobile number from day one, and you use it.
Every quote is a line-by-line specification, not a lump sum with room to move. Nothing is added, changed or charged without your written approval and a revised figure first.
A written update every Friday with photographs: what was done, what happens next week, and anything needing a decision from you. You should never have to phone and ask.

The room your house is actually organised around. Cabinetry, stone, appliances and the services behind them, replaced as one piece of work.

Waterproofing done properly, then everything you can see. Most of ours run four to six weeks from strip-out to handover.

Whole-house projects where layout, services and finishes all change. Typically eight to ten months, phased so you know what is happening when.

Adding floor area — a room, a level, a wing — detailed so the join is invisible from inside and out.

Patios, pool surrounds, braai areas and kitchens built to the same standard as the inside of the house.

Older Johannesburg houses where the detail matters. Matching what is there rather than covering it.

01
We come to the house, look at what you have, and talk through what you want. No charge, and no obligation after it.
02
Drawings, specification and a fixed price broken down line by line. The number you sign is the number you pay.
03
Plans, council submission and body corporate sign-off where needed. We handle the paperwork.
04
Strip-out, structural work, plumbing and electrical rough-in. The loud, dusty part. We seal off the areas you are still living in.
05
Joinery, tiling, fittings and finishes. This is where the house starts looking like the drawings.
06
We walk the house with you, write the defect list, fix everything on it, and clean up. Then the guarantee starts.
A guarantee is only worth something if it is specific. These are in the contract, not on a poster.
01 / Fixed price
Your quote is a fixed price against a written specification. If you ask for something extra we price it and you approve it in writing before any work happens.
02 / Completion date
The date is in your contract. If we hand over late for reasons that are ours, you are credited for every week we run over.
03 / Snag list
We walk the house with you at handover and write the list together. Everything on it is fixed within fourteen days, at our cost, without you having to chase us for it.
04 / Workmanship
Structure, waterproofing, joinery and installation carry a ten-year written workmanship guarantee. Manufacturer warranties on appliances and fittings are registered in your name and handed over in the file.

“We were quoted three times and Ashworth was not the cheapest. They were the only ones who gave us a specification we could actually read. The final invoice matched the quote to the rand.”
“We lived in the house for the whole eight months with two toddlers. Every Friday there was an email with photographs. I never once had to phone and ask what was happening.”
“The snag list had fourteen items on it. All fourteen were done in nine days. That is not normal in this industry.”
As a working range in 2026: a kitchen from R450 000 to R1.4 million, a main bathroom from R220 000 to R650 000, and a full-home renovation from R14 000 to R28 000 per square metre depending on specification. We will give you a realistic band at the first visit, before you spend anything on drawings.
Bathrooms four to six weeks. Kitchens ten to sixteen weeks. Extensions sixteen to twenty-four weeks plus approvals. Full homes eight to ten months. Approvals run in parallel with design wherever the council allows it.
Usually yes. We build temporary dust walls with their own extraction, keep one bathroom and a working kitchen live wherever the layout allows, and phase the work so that you always have somewhere to sleep, wash and cook.
Yes. Our architect prepares the drawings, we submit to the local council, and we handle body corporate and estate design-review submissions. You sign; we queue.
A deposit on signature, then progress payments against completed stages that you inspect and sign off. Nothing is paid in advance of work done, and the final payment is only released after handover and the snag list.
Contract works, public liability and COIDA cover are in place on every project, and copies go into your project file before we start on site.
Bryanston, Sandton, Hyde Park, Sandhurst, Morningside, Parkhurst, Atholl, Illovo, Craighall and Dunkeld. We deliberately keep the geography tight so a manager can be at your house within twenty minutes.
